The Two Different Kinds of Radon Tests

When my neighbor told me he had purchased a kit to determine if he had high levels of radon in his house, I asked him for the details because I was curious if I did as well after he explained what radon even was to me. I knew that it was a gas, but I had no idea that it was as dangerous as it is, which is what prompted me to ask about getting radon kits for myself too. They are not expensive to buy, and I had my option of one of two different kinds.

The shorter test takes about three or four days to get what is needed to be analyzed, and the one for a longer duration can actually take up to a year to get everything that is needed. I wasn’t sure why there was such a variance in these two tests, so I turned to my online resources to learn even more about radon. I figured if one test is good for a few days and another is good for up to a year, then I am definitely missing something. I wanted to know for sure which test I needed to.

It did not take me long to find out the information I was looking for as far as the different radon tests go. The shorter test is mainly just so a person can get a quicker result on the radon levels in their house. However, radon levels can change, so it is not going to show a true reading of how much radon is in a person’s house throughout the year. A high reading may not accurately reflect a lower level that is the real reading. I went ahead and got the shorter test for immediate peace of mind, but I am also doing the longer test just to make sure all is good!
